Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information DokLink collects, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the DokLink app and this website, and it replaces every earlier version of this policy, including the one previously shown inside the app.

Information We Collect

Account and profile information

Your name, date of birth, gender, pronoun, phone number, a secondary email address if you add one, your profile picture, and your permanent and current address.

Identity verification

DokLink offers two separate, independent ways to verify who you are, and we keep them separate internally because they come from two different government systems.

The first is offline verification through the Aadhaar app, run under UIDAI's Offline Verification Seeking Entity program. When you choose this method, the Aadhaar app itself asks for your consent and a face scan, then hands us back only your name, date of birth, gender, and address, signed by UIDAI. We never receive your Aadhaar number through this method. UIDAI does not offer it to us as an option in the first place.

The second is linking an Ayushman Bharat Health Account, India's national health ID, through the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. This is entirely optional and only happens if you choose to link a health account, using an Aadhaar based one time password, your driving licence, or a basic demographic check, depending on what you select.

Health information

If you choose to add it, your known allergies, current medications, existing medical conditions, and past surgeries. If you make an emergency bed booking, a short description of your condition at that time. If a hospital records ongoing treatment for you through DokLink, the treatment name, the doctor and hospital involved, and its status.

Emergency and location information

Your emergency contact's name and relationship to you. If you make an emergency bed booking, your device's location at the moment you make that booking, so the nearest available beds can be shown to you. We do not collect your location at any other time.

Insurance and payment information

Your insurance policy details and a photo of your insurance card, if you add one. When you make a payment through DokLink, our payment processor generates an order ID, a payment ID, and a signature that we store to confirm the payment went through, along with the billed and claimed amounts. We do not store your card or bank details ourselves, our payment processor handles that directly.

Booking information

The hospital, doctor, date, time, and status of any appointment or bed booking you make, and any notes you add to it.

Account activity and security information

Records of one time passwords sent to verify your phone or email, including whether they were delivered and used. A log of login attempts, including the IP address and browser or device information involved, kept to detect suspicious activity. A record of when you accepted this policy or any other agreement, including the IP address and device information at that moment. If you enable notifications, a push notification token identifying your device so we can send them.

Automatically collected technical information

If something goes wrong in the app, a crash or error report may be sent to our monitoring tool. This is configured by default to leave out personal information, though technical details about the error itself are included.

How We Use Your Information

  • Verify your identity and, where you choose it, link your national health ID
  • Find and reserve an available hospital bed for you, including during emergencies
  • Manage your bookings and appointments
  • Coordinate insurance claims with hospitals and insurers
  • Send you notifications about your bookings and account
  • Detect and prevent fraud or misuse of your account
  • Maintain and improve the app itself

How We Share Your Information

We share information only where it is necessary to provide the service.

  • With the hospital and doctor involved, for any booking, admission, or treatment
  • With your insurer or third party administrator, to process a claim
  • With UIDAI, only in the sense that the Aadhaar app sends your verified details to us. We do not send anything to UIDAI beyond the signed request our system generates
  • With the National Health Authority, only if you choose to link a national health ID
  • With our payment processor, to process payments
  • With our SMS provider, limited to your phone number and the message content, to deliver one time passwords
  • With our email provider, limited to your email address and the message content
  • With our image storage provider, limited to the images you upload
  • With our error monitoring provider, limited to technical diagnostic information

We do not sell your personal information to anyone, for any reason.

How Long We Keep Your Information

Some information is deleted automatically. Aadhaar app verification records are deleted within twenty four hours of the verification session ending, whether or not you complete sign up. Expired one time passwords are deleted every day.

Other information, including your health, booking, insurance, and login records, is kept until you ask us to delete it, since DokLink does not yet delete this automatically. We are working towards automatic deletion schedules for this information as well.

Your Rights

You can ask us to:

  • Show you the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct anything that is inaccurate
  • Delete your information

To do any of these, email our Privacy Officer at grievance@doklink.in. We will act on your request as quickly as we reasonably can. To delete your account specifically, see our account deletion page.

If you withdraw consent for something DokLink needs to provide a specific service, such as Aadhaar verification or health ID linking, we may not be able to continue providing that particular service to you, though the rest of your account is unaffected.

How We Protect Your Information

Information sent between your device and our servers is encrypted in transit. Our servers are hosted on cloud infrastructure located in India, with access restricted to authorized personnel. No system is completely immune to risk, but we design DokLink to limit what is collected in the first place and to protect what we do collect.

Children

DokLink is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of eighteen without the involvement of a parent or guardian.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as DokLink changes. If we make a significant change, we will let you know through the app or this website before it takes effect.
